Who am I
Step into a world shaped by the dance of fire and wood - a vision I bring to life as Pyro D-Studio, from my studio in London, with work that finds homes across the globe. My pieces are born from careful thought and deep respect for the materials I choose. Much of my work begins with wood selected for its character - the grains, edges, and textures that hold their own quiet stories. Sometimes I follow the natural lines of the timber, and other times I shape the surface to carry a vision that has lived in my mind long before the first burn.
Through pyrography, I transform these surfaces into detailed, lifelike scenes: animals captured with striking realism, landscapes that feel alive, and natural forms that echo the rhythm of the earth. Each mark is permanent, each shadow layered with patience, creating artworks that are not only seen but felt.
Every piece is original luxury in its truest sense. No two are ever alike, and each carries hours of craftsmanship and intention. These are not decorations, but rare statements for those who value exclusivity and understand that art is an experience, not a possession - one that travels far beyond my London studio to collectors worldwide.
My Story
Thirty years later, after moving from the village to build my life elsewhere, I returned home for a visit. There, in the hallway, the shelf stood as it always had - its charred patterns catching the afternoon light, the wood warm to the touch. Seeing it again awakened something deep within: I acquired basic burning tools, not to launch a career, but to recapture the warmth and quiet connection embodied in that enduring piece.
My journey began in a central European village framed by the rugged Carpathian Mountains and river-cut valleys.
The forest was my formative classroom: I spent hours exploring its depths, studying the texture of bark, the structure of twisted branches, and the vein patterns of leaves - absorbing not just natural forms, but the inherent integrity of organic materials.
Dad’s workshop became my second foundation. After school, I stood beside him as he cut and filed timber, the sharp, earthy aroma of fresh wood filling the space. I didn’t just watch his movements; I learned to recognize the life in each piece - the grain’s fluid, river-like flow, the weathered edges that carried histories of wind and rain. Here, I developed a profound respect for material that would define my approach.
My mother often told me the story of how, while pregnant with me, she’d snuck into dad’s garage and used a rusted burning tool to etch delicate patterns onto a wooden shelf. It became a constant household presence…
Serving as a dining room decoration, a “beauty shelf” in the lounge, a jewellery mirror for my mother, and a key holder in the corridor doorway.
It endured intact for decades, its colours barely faded.
When flame first touched wood, I realized this was about synthesis, not replication: merging the mountain landscape’s influence, the workshop’s technical grounding, and the creative spark my mother ignited before my birth. In that moment, Pyro D-Studio emerged - not as a choice, but as the inevitable evolution of my experiences.
